Google presents the current Pixel 9 series smartphones. All are equipped with the new Google Tensor G4 processor and impress with innovative cameras, optimized performance and useful AI functions. In addition to the Pixel 9, the Pixel 9 Pro and the Pixel 9 Pro XL, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is also coming to Austria, the Pixel Watch 3 in two sizes (41 mm and 45 mm) and the Pixel Buds Pro 2.

The Pixel 9 series smartphones are particularly impressive due to their new design, in which the camera is brought to the fore with the further development of the camera bar. The Pro model is available for the first time in two different display sizes: the Pixel 9 Pro (6.3 inches) and the Pixel 9 Pro XL (6.8 inches). Aside from the display size, charging speed, and battery performance, the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL share the same specs and features. Both versions feature the bright Super Actua display and a new 42MP front camera that delivers sharper and brighter selfies even in low light. The back is now made of satin glass, the frame is made of satin metal.
The Pixel 9 offers numerous upgrades compared to the previous model. With its 6.3-inch Actua display, the Pixel 9 is 35 percent brighter than the Pixel 8 and has the same main and ultra-wide-angle cameras as the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL. The ultra-wide-angle lens has been upgraded from 12MP on Pixel 8 to 48MP on Pixel 9. The front camera is equipped with an autofocus function that ensures even sharper selfies. The Pixel 9 also impresses with around 20 percent longer battery life than the Pixel 8 when actively used and the display switched on.
All models will receive seven years of operating system updates, pixel feature drops and security updates.
AI support from Google Tensor G4 and Gemini Live
The heart of the new Pixel 9 smartphones is the specially developed Tensor G4 processor. This highly efficient processor was developed in collaboration with Google DeepMind to improve everyday use scenarios such as opening apps or surfing the Internet. It is the first processor on which Gemini Nano runs with multimodality – this allows the smartphone to interpret text, graphics and audio content.
Gemini Live will be available to all Gemini Advanced subscribers. The function enables a smooth conversation with Gemini – directly on the smartphone or via the Pixel Buds.
Improved camera features for stunning photos and videos
Thanks to the performance of the cameras and newly developed image processing functions, photos and videos are displayed even more precisely. Google has also integrated AI features to help create the perfect shots – from group photos that don’t miss a single person to zooming in on videos. Google has also redesigned the panorama function so that detailed shots can be achieved even in low light conditions.

Thanks to the more efficient displays combined with Wear OS 5 and an energy-efficient hybrid architecture, Pixel Watch 3 offers reliable battery life for the whole day, even with the always-on display activated. Pixel Watch 3 also has the unique “loss of pulse detection” function. An AI algorithm detects when there is no longer a pulse. If the Pixel Watch detects signs of loss of pulse, the smartwatch will trigger a signal to check if the person is responding. If there is no response, the smartwatch automatically alerts the emergency services and also transmits the location.
Pixel Buds Pro 2: Ideal fit and new Gemini features
After analyzing 45 million ear scans and wearing tests, Google developed the Pixel Buds Pro 2, whose special shape prevents the headphones from falling out. Thanks to the four different ear inserts included, all users can find the ideal fit for them.
