The EU Commission wants the controversial weed killer to be approved glyphosate extend for another ten years – with new restrictions. This includes a ban on its use as a pre-harvest desiccant and the implementation of measures to protect surrounding plants. Since the EU Appeals Committee again failed to achieve a qualified majority of EU states for approval on Thursday, the ball is now in the Commission’s court.
