At a time when we experience regression in the gender equality and women’s rights, it is more important than ever to stand together.
„From March 8, the International Women’s Day, we want to go forward together – for equality, justice and a safe future for everyone, ”says Helene Gressenbauer -Rösner, President and Women Austria, the goal of the campaign.
Hard -won achievements in the field of women’s rights are reversed in an alarming way, which affects women and girls around the world and is global progress. At the current pace, it will still take 134 years for the gender equality. On the occasion of the upcoming International Women’s Day on March 8, the National Committee of UN Women launched the #Marchforward/ #MOVEFORWARD campaign this week to take this step backwards.
“The dynamic is undeniable – this week people have found powerful, creative ways everywhere to solidarize. It is clear to act urgency and we refuse to remain silent while the rights of women are pushed back. The only way is forward, ”says Stella Samúelsdóttir, executive director of UN Women Island, which leads the campaign globally.
Connect the movement and sign the global petition
Unequal societies are shattered and have higher rates of violence and instability. In contrast, nations thrive in which the sexes are equivalent, they have a stronger economy, a healthier population and a higher general prosperity.
Un Women Austria, together with the twelve other national committees of UN Women individuals and organizations worldwide, calls on to join the “Move Forward” campaign and to be united in the conviction that the only way leads forward!
“Use your social media presence in which you share your own videos using the step-by-step instructions and the content of others. Talk about women’s rights and gender equality and create awareness. We need your help to keep the discussion on life! Encourage your followers and the people in your environment to join the movement and to sign the petition for equality for gender, ”says Helene Gressenbauer-Rösner.
