Demographic change is already present and causes around 66,430 people in Austria to celebrate their 20th birthday every year, while around 1,280,000 people turn 65 at the same time. Almost half of all training positions remain unfilled, which illustrates the blatant shortage of qualified specialists and managers.
Dieter Kaiser is an author and owner of the Kaiser-Training company. In his book ‘Generationally Diverse Leadership’ he offers a model for dealing with this situation. In an interview with Otto Koller, editor of MedienManager, he reports on the changes in the job market and that young managers will move into vacant management positions in the next few years. In his book, he describes in a practical manner and as a guide how it is possible not only to manage specialists and employees of the same age or younger, but also to take responsibility for employees of various ages and predominantly older employees.
