From now on, compulsory public schools in Vienna can apply for raised beds for their students
Vienna (OTS) – Due to their great popularity, compulsory public schools in Vienna will also be equipped with raised beds from Vienna Health Promotion – WiG this school year. This year, 50 raised beds are once again available as part of the Vienna School Fruit Program, which schools can now apply for. “The children are enthusiastic about the raised beds and also learn a lot about sustainability, regionality and seasonality. Together with teachers, they learn in a playful way how they can improve their health, well-being and performance,” emphasizes Dennis Beck, Managing Director of Vienna Health Promotion – WiG.
Raised bed campaign in your school
The raised beds as part of the Vienna School Fruit Program are provided with all the trimmings: from materials for a raised bed to soil and plants. Additionally, support is provided when filling and planting the raised bed and there are helpful tips for selecting and caring for plants. The aim is to grow vegetables and herbs together in the school’s raised bed and to give the children fun and a desire for fresh fruit and vegetables. Details and information on how to apply is here
About the “Vienna School Fruit Program” project
The raised bed campaign has been part of the Vienna school fruit program since the 2020/21 school year and has since equipped 144 compulsory public schools in Vienna with raised beds in order to expand students’ knowledge of the topic of healthy eating. The Vienna Health Promotion – WiG campaign is implemented in cooperation with the AMA as part of the EU school program with financial support from the European Union.
