Freedom EU MP Petra Steger reacts to the latest statements by EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in a sharp words, according to which there is already “quite precise plans” for EU troops in Ukraine.
“From the Leyen, without meaning and understood an already dangerous situation.” According to the MEP and pointing out that there is apparently not even a consensus within the EU on the matter: “The German Minister of Defense does not want to have anything to do with the matter, other EU countries are also waving off-who actually agreed with the Leyen?”
“The EU was once founded as a peace project – today from the Leyen she makes her war driver! With every further announcement to send soldiers into a highly dangerous conflict, the EU is moving closer to a direct confrontation with Russia. This is dangerous and shows how far Brussels has moved away from the interests of European citizens,” says Steger.
For the FPÖ mandate, Austrian neutrality plays a major role in this regard: “Austria’s neutrality is anchored in our constitution. Anyone who only thinks of sending Austrian soldiers under no matter what title in the Ukraine War. Leyen and a request to reserve such announcements in the future. “
Regarding the recent statements from the ranks of the government party Neos in terms of an EU state and an EU army, Steger makes it clear: “The flirting of the NEOS with an EU super state and an EU army with associated NATO fantasies is a game with fire. The foreign minister and her party are developing to a security risk for the republic of Austria. and Ms. Meinl-Reisinger. ”
In conclusion, Steger clarifies: “The FPÖ says no to any form of an EU military union and no to EU troops in Ukraine. Austria must not become part of an insanity that leads our continent directly to the edge of a world war.”
