From artificial intelligence to digital humanism

The technology radar developed by the BRZ reports annually on IT perspectives and trends for the public sector.

  • In 2025, artificial intelligence continues to develop into a leading trend for the development of IT applications in public administration. In particular with the help of the generative AI, enormous progress has been made, concrete applications – for example in the area of ​​support for citizens when looking for a job – are already available.

  • Trends such as Agentic Ai, IT for Green or Total Experience are the next step to make AI applications usable for applications in the administration-whereby the requirements regarding data protection, data security and digital sovereignty are particularly high in this field of application.

  • When using AI in the administrative environment, ethical questions are also in the foreground. Initiatives on the subject of digital humanism examine the need to focus on people in the development of IT applications and to consider ethical questions.

State Secretary Alexander Pröll About the use of AI in the public sector: “Artificial intelligence is the greatest technological upheaval of our time and a future technology that we must not seal ourselves. In particular for the use of digitization projects in public administration, however, clear framework conditions are needed to use the full potential of this technology and at the same time strengthen the necessary trust in this technology”.

BRZ managing director Roland Ledinger: “With the technologyadar, we have an instrument in hand to create an overview and make a precise classification of the different IT trends and technologies. Artificial intelligence has great potential for the administration and can be used very useful to clever challenges such as the waves of retirement. Ki and digitization in general.

The BRZ has identified six top trends in the technologieradar that will shape the administrative IT in the next few years:
