Klaus Thürriedl was elected President of the European Council of Free Professions (European Council of the Liberal Professions, Ceplis) on July 2, 2025. The Ceplis, based in Brussels, represents European freelancers: Inside and serves as a umbrella organization of European professional representatives and national freelancers: Inner associations.
“As a convinced European and passionate civil engineer, the professional work is a matter close to my heart. Freelancers: Inside are highly qualified experts: inside from a wide variety of specialist areas and a strong voice for responsibility, high professional ethics and competence. In the name of the Ceplis, I will work for the concerns of Freiberufler: Inside and thus for the interests of civil society,” said Thürriedl after his choice.
Thürriedl wants to use his office to strongly involve all free professions at the base and to focus on the topics that combine the different departments. According to Thürriedl, the responsible handling of artificial intelligence (AI) will be of particular importance in the future.
Klaus Thürriedl has been a civil engineer in Upper Austria with Chancellery in Freistadt since 1992 and has a lot of experience in the professional representative: since 2022 he has been Vice President of the Federal Chamber of Civil Technician: Inside, where he was previously chairman of the civil engineer section. At European level, he is Secretary General of the European Council of the engineering chambers (European Council of Engineers Chambers, ECEC), where he previously served as President for the maximum term of 6 years.
