Vienna (OTS) – Since March 26th, the city service has been touring throughout Vienna again and stopping in all districts. This time there is also a special offer: Viennese people can now have their dogs registered in the pet database on the city service bus for free. Your own dog can stay at home. For registration, either ID Austria or a photo ID and, in any case, the dog’s chip number are required. The influx in the first week shows that the campaign is well received.
Animal welfare city councilor Jürgen Czernohorszky paid a visit to the action at Praterstern: “This is a unique opportunity for all dog owners! The registration links the dog’s microchip number to the data in the pet database. This is not only required by law, but also extremely sensible. This means that if lost animals are found, the owners can be notified quickly!”
Walter Hillerer, head of the Vienna City Service, emphasizes: “Through the cooperation with TierQuarTier Vienna, the Vienna City Service is expanding its range of services for the people of Vienna. We are proud to offer this free and uncomplicated option and, in the event of a loss, to help ensure that lost dogs can quickly find their way back to their owners.”
The “Free registration of dogs” campaign is offered by the city service and TierQuarTier Vienna and runs until October 2024. Dogs cannot be chipped on site. If the dog does come along, he must wear a muzzle and a leash.
