“With today’s decisions for a mandatory national action plan (NAP) against violence against women and girls and the recognition of nursing professions as difficult work, the government has launched important gynecological decisions. This is gratifying and very welcome,” said Klaudia Frieben, chair of the Austrian women’s ring.
The high number of femalitis and attempted femicides must be described as one of the major crises in our country. In this decision, we hope that violence against women and girls has a top priority to protect their lives and health.
“The large number of areas where women and girls are affected by violence is also very great. The reports of the GREVIO Commission and the necessary implementation of the violence protection directive require quick need for action. It is therefore important that when creating the plan, the numerous organizations from violence, the women’s organizations and NGOs are involved. These organizations have great competence and expertise,” said Klaudia Freieb.
An important feminist step was also taken with the crediting of nursing work as heavy work. Most of the nurses are women. The fact that the path to difficult work is now easier for you is an important objective.
“It is a gratifying day for women and girls. We rely on the fact that the Federal Government continues to do so despite the difficult budget situation in women’s policy and in particular violence protection – it should not be saved in equality,” said Freieb.
