Last week, the FPÖ Styria and the Styrian People’s Party were able to report on the positive atmosphere in the Styrian government negotiations and thus draw a clear contrast to the events at the federal level. In the coming days, the government negotiations will reach their finale and both parties can now announce the first planned measures:
- Payment card for asylum seekers
The FPÖ and STVP plan to prioritize benefits in kind in the Styrian asylum system and to fundamentally eliminate cash benefits. For this purpose, a benefit-in-kind card will be introduced. - New Styrian integration model
The FPÖ and STVP are committed to the domestic dominant culture and to the creation of a corresponding integration model. The aim must be for migrants to respect and internalize our local values and rules; sanction options are set for those unwilling to integrate. - Defuse the hotspot of youth crime
The issue of juvenile crime is of socio-political explosiveness. The FPÖ and STVP therefore want to further develop the catalog of measures against youth crime in their own area of activity and lobby the federal legislature to reduce the age of criminal responsibility to twelve years.
FPÖ state party chairman KO Mario Kunasek: “The implementation of the payment card for asylum seekers as quickly as possible is just one of several measures in the asylum area that we have already been able to agree on with our negotiating partner. In doing so, we are realizing a core freedom demand and contributing to Styria becoming less attractive as an asylum destination. The establishment of a new integration model, the core element of which is the establishment of clear and strict rules for migrants, represents a groundbreaking step towards a restrictive asylum and migration policy, which will be anchored in the entire government program in all relevant areas.
STVP state party chairman, state governor Christopher Drexler: “We were again able to make important progress on the first two days of negotiations this week. We agree that it is urgently necessary to stand up for a restrictive migration policy and to take effective integration measures. The basic prerequisite for integration is the internalization of our values and our way of life – we demand this from everyone who wants to live with us. With the payment card for asylum seekers, we ensure the accuracy of support services and thus more justice. In the past few months, I have worked with experts to develop a number of measures against youth crime, which we want to continue to implement together – to protect our young people and for more security in the country.
