FPÖ Styria enters into government negotiations with the Styrian People’s Party

After trusting exploratory discussions with all parties, the regional party leadership of the FPÖ Styria today unanimously decided to enter into government negotiations with the Styrian People’s Party. This corresponds to the will of the voters as much as possible, as both parties together represent around 62 percent of the Styrian electorate. The People’s Party came in second place with around 27 percent, well ahead of the SPÖ, and clearly signaled that it wanted to be a stable partner in the future state government.

“From the beginning of the explorations, our aim was to pave the way to a stable two-party coalition as quickly as possible. In the context of the discussions so far and taking into account content aspects, the greatest overlap emerged with the People’s Party and the perspective opportunity to quickly establish a sustainable and effective state government. “This is the need of the hour given the current political vacuum at the federal level and the economic challenges,” said FPÖ state party chairman Mario Kunasek. The focus of further negotiations is the well-being of the country and the urgently needed reforms in numerous areas of the Green Mark. The further timetable and content of the in-depth negotiations will be announced tomorrow. Finally, it is explicitly stated that the negotiations will be conducted in an open-ended manner.
