Mayor Ludwig wants to keep quiet about his responsibility for crime against asylum seekers
Vienna (OTS) – Viennese FPÖ leader City Councilor Dominik Nepp describes the ban on a special meeting of the Vienna City Council by SPÖ City Council Chairman Reindl as a “democratic political scandal of a special kind.” The Vienna FPÖ had requested this meeting on the topic “Excessive violence by asylum seekers in Vienna – Mayor Ludwig is creating a fear space in Vienna through his left-wing welcome policy”. “Special sessions with similar titles have been permitted in the past. Now they are being turned away out of fear and cowardice. The justification that the mayor has no responsibility is untrue. After all, it is Ludwig who, in contrast to other federal states, pays out generous social benefits in Vienna – such as minimum security for those entitled to subsidiary protection – and lures them to Vienna with these cash gifts. The tragic case of the 12-year-old girl and the drug-related death of a 14-year-old who was found leaning on an Afghan asylum seeker in Vienna Simmering are just the tip of the iceberg. The fact is that asylum seeker crime in Vienna is getting out of hand and many Viennese no longer feel safe. If Mayor Ludwig acts as if he had no responsibility for this, then that is shameful,” criticizes Nepp.
For Nepp, it is significant that Ludwig has not yet expressed a word of regret about the abuse and murder cases of the last few days. “This indifference from a city leader is a mockery for the victims and their families. I guarantee the mayor that the FPÖ will mercilessly expose its political failure at all political levels. Even the dictatorial approach – for example by not allowing special meetings – cannot change this,” affirms the Viennese FPÖ chairman.
