Not seizing the opportunity that a genuine and comprehensive neutrality policy offers and instead dismantling neutrality piece by piece is irresponsible
Vienna (OTS) – “The hypocrisy of ÖVP Foreign Minister Schallenberg in connection with our perpetual neutrality defies description. Because it is the People’s Party that continues to undermine and devalue this cornerstone of our identity and this stable guarantor of our security. All of this is happening against the will and to the detriment of its own population. On the other hand, anyone who advocates for their own population, for their safety and well-being – in all areas and at all levels – like the Freedom Party with their party leader Herbert Kickl, will be unabashedly defamed by the ÖVP. ÖVP Minister Schallenberg also provided further ‘documentary proof’ of this with his appearance in today’s ORF ‘press hour’,” emphasized the liberal club’s deputy chairman and spokesperson for foreign policy, constitution and neutrality NAbg today. Overall, the ÖVP acts aloof, hypocritical, irresponsible and completely ignores the interests of the Austrian population because it prefers to serve the EU elites – keyword EU accession negotiations with Ukraine, which ÖVP Chancellor Nehammer waved through, keyword sanctions. “The sanctions against Russia are damaging our own population, our economic location and are fueling inflation in our country. They will no more end this terrible war than arms deliveries, in which Austria also participates indirectly via the EU Peace Facility – after all, money doesn’t matter. In any case, it would have long been the order of the day to bring neutral Austria into play as a place for peace talks, diplomacy and constructive dialogue. A liberal People’s Chancellor Herbert Kickl would have taken advantage of this opportunity offered by our perpetual neutrality on the political level. To do this, however, you actually have to fill it with life and that is what we Freedom Party stand for, that is what sets us apart from all other parties,” emphasized Fürst.
“The opportunities that a genuine and comprehensive policy of neutrality holds, as we libertarians understand them and as Bruno Kreisky, for example, knew how to take advantage of, cannot now be seized and Austria’s perpetual neutrality should instead be dismantled and undermined bit by bit “In any case, it is irresponsible and also against the interests of our own population,” emphasized Fürst.
