FPÖ-Nittmann: Vienna’s budget completely out of control
Vienna (OTS) –

“The Vienna budget figures presented today in the Finance Committee of the Vienna City Council are shocking proof of the complete lack of concept and irresponsibility of the red-pink city government,” criticizes FPÖ Vienna finance spokeswoman Ulrike Nittmann sharply. “Instead of the forecast two billion, the deficit for 2025 is a whopping 3.8 billion. However, when asked about urgently needed consolidation measures, Finance City Councilor Hanke failed to provide an answer. Likewise, he obviously doesn’t want to accept that if there is less income, then more spending taxes have to be saved. 1.1 billion euros in minimum security is simply too much! Apparently the SPÖ is neither willing nor able to get the escalating debt policy under control.”

What is particularly serious is that central issues, such as the “pull factor” of Vienna’s minimum income, continue to be deliberately ignored. “Vienna attracts people from all over the world thanks to its generous minimum income provision. “But instead of finally addressing this problem and only paying social benefits to people who are working and want to integrate, or to those who have gotten into trouble through no fault of their own, the city government is turning a blind eye and letting Viennese taxpayers bear the consequences,” emphasizes Nittmann.

Nittmann is therefore calling for a clear turnaround in budget policy. “Effective consolidation measures, strict prioritization of spending and a reform of the minimum income are urgently needed in order to get the budget under control. Mayor Ludwig and City Councilor for Finance Hanke must no longer burden the people of Vienna with their irresponsible politics,” concluded Nittmann.
