The impending budget decisions prompted the Federal Councilor of Freedomers in today’s meeting of the Federal Councilto make an urgent request to Finance Minister Markus Marterbauer. In it, the free criticism of the planned budget renovation measures by the federal government practiced. While further burdens are coming to the population, the federal government is also ready to transfer Austrian tax money abroad, for example for the support of Ukraine. At the same time, the government is apparently not willing to save in its own ministries, according to the tenor of the criticism expressed in the urgent request.
FPÖ: Government burdens the population, but does not save on yourself

This is a “policy of double standards and priority shift”, which is decidedly rejected and deeply unjust.
The freedoms criticized the part of the budget consolidation that the government itself affects. Brussels had been reported that the departments wanted to save 15 % of the factual expenses. However, current media reports would suggest that the federal government “no longer takes too precisely”, the request says. Several departments would apparently prefer to save the services for the citizens than with themselves.
Spanring and Bernard therefore addressed the Federal Minister of Finance numerous detailed questions about the savings destinations in the individual ministries. They wanted to know which measures the individual ministries wanted to achieve the savings goal of 15 % of the factual effort and how to comply with compliance with these savings targets. They also asked for information about how an EU deficit procedure would affect Austria.

Michael Bernard (FPÖ/N) also criticized the double budget with regard to bloated administration and prestige projects as a “document of failure”. The Federal Council was particularly located in security and national defense, but also in nursing and agriculture.
Herbert Kober (FPÖ/ST) said that the budget shows investments in the army, but ultimately represents a security policy step backwards. There is a great discrepancy between what is on paper and what is actually important in the troop. Marterbauer also explained that the family services were not shortened, but that the family tax and family allowance would not be increased. Climate protection is also a goal of the federal government. To spend funding on a large scale, you can no longer afford, the finance minister said. There is an “economic realism” into climate policy that secures the achievement of the climate goals.
The Federal Government also saves comprehensively in the administration, whereby it is proceeding as economic as possible. The ministries, which are queried by the freedom, are flexible in their savings destinations, but there is not a single department that does not save, said Marterbauer. Due to the ongoing controlling, any deviations would be recognized quickly and could initiate countermeasures.
Marterbauer also said that the budget renovation was not completed after the double budget. He was optimistic that a reduction in government debt would succeed.
ÖVP: Federal government faces the challenges
The current budget situation is undoubtedly challenging, said Federal Councilor Matthias Zauner (ÖVP/N). The freedoms would address the problems, but would not solve them. The second budget renovation measures that passed the Federal Council today is an important step here. In a second speech, Zauner emphasized improvements for municipalities through the municipal investment program and said goodbye to the Federal Council.

SPÖ: Budget measures secure the health and social system
