The ÖFB team’s summer fairy tale comes to an end
St. Pölten (OTS) – “Electrifying football atmosphere in its purest form and a great evening of sports with a bitter end for our ÖFB boys. That’s football! “That’s football,” said the LH deputy sports councilor on Tuesday evening shortly after the final whistle in Leipzig.
“We won a group of death and then unfortunately failed in the round of 16 after a self-sacrificing fight. “This team can still go home with its head held high,” said Landbauer, who emphasized: “The fact that two of Group D, the Netherlands and France, are in the quarter-finals shows how high our group victory is.”
Now we have to look ahead and focus on the World Cup qualification in USA/Canada/Mexico in 2026, in which 48 teams are taking part for the first time.
