Nehammer and the ÖVP had massively jeopardized the supply situation with their policies, Kassegger continued: “Austria used to be the first collection and distribution point. The fact that the gas storage facilities are currently filled with 95 terawatt hours was an enormous loss of business to the detriment of the Austrians, says Kassegger, from whose point of view price increases are already foreseeable. “In order to fill the gas storage facilities, ex-ÖVP Finance Minister Brunner and the Green Environment Minister Gewessler bought gas at an exorbitant price of four billion euros. At today’s exchange rate, the current value is just 800 million euros. The delivery stop will clearly lead to a significant price increase and increase inflation enormously again. The price increase has already occurred on the stock exchange. These increases also affect the price of electricity. The Austrians are facing a cold winter,” the Freedom Party concluded.
