FPÖ – Kassegger on inflation: “It won’t work anymore – the ÖVP and Greens’ will to shape things is now finally at the bottom” | Freedom Parliamentary Club

“The FPÖ is the only party in Austria that has been calling for urgently needed relief for years”

Vienna (OTS) “It won’t work anymore – the will of this black-green government to shape things is now finally at a standstill. For years, the inflation drivers from the ÖVP and the Greens have not been able to find answers to the still very high inflation in our country. On the contrary, they are actually fueling inflation and making everyday life more and more unaffordable for people,” said FPÖ economics spokesman NAbg today. Axel Kassegger in view of the still very high inflation rate, which according to Statistics Austria was 3.5 percent in April, while in the euro area it is on average just under half – 2.4 percent – and also in many other EU states, such as in Italy (0.9 percent), for example, is significantly lower.

“The FPÖ is the only party in Austria that has been calling for urgently needed relief for years, such as a price cap with halving or a suspension of VAT on food, energy and fuel as well as the mineral oil tax, an abolition of the CO2 tax and the ORF ‘compulsory tax’ or a real rent control. Precisely because the price level of the mini shopping basket – the weekly purchase including food, services and fuel – increased by 4.9 percent year-on-year in April, these measures would be more necessary than ever. These could then be used to get the high prices under control in order to be able to guarantee the Austrian population a life of prosperity and social security again,” explained the FPÖ economics spokesman.

“In order to be able to implement these measures, a political change is urgently necessary, which is only possible with a federal government led by the FPÖ and an People’s Chancellor Herbert Kickl,” emphasized Kassegger and continued: “In the coming elections, the Austrians can ensure that that with a strengthening of the FPÖ, satisfaction, confidence and a future will be able to find their way into Austria again.”
