From beginning to end, the espionage scandal was rampant in the biotope of ÖVP interior ministers and their henchmen
Vienna (OTS) – “Instead of continuing to tell the blatant untruths of his party colleagues, Karner, as Interior Minister, would have a much more important task right now: namely, to deal with the failure of all his ÖVP predecessors, starting from Strasser and Platter to Mikl-Leitner and Sobotka. Because they created the biotope in the Ministry of the Interior and BVT from which this espionage scandal arose. But the ÖVP is afraid of these black swamps coming to light even further, like the proverbial devil is afraid of holy water,” said FPÖ General Secretary and U-Committee parliamentary group leader NAbg. Christian Hafenecker, MA today in a first reaction to the Interior Minister’s press conference in advance of the National Security Council.
“Under ÖVP interior ministers, the main suspect Ott was sent up the career ladder in the BVT and reached the height of his alleged espionage activities; under ÖVP interior minister Sobotka and BVT director Gridling he was suspended in November 2017 on suspicion of espionage. Then why wasn’t Ott put under surveillance, but just put in another position in the ministry? How could it happen under the ÖVP department leadership and under BVT director Gridling that security standards that were intended to make any information flow more difficult were apparently criminally neglected, as was the solid selection and review of BVT employees who have access to sensitive information were fulfilled? These are the questions that are now being asked and are a total declaration of bankruptcy of the ÖVP security policy!” explained the liberal general secretary. The fact that the ÖVP is now using the “result of its own fatal failure” as an excuse to once again drum up its fantasies about monitoring messenger services is also revealing: “The current competencies are sufficient. Especially during the Corona period, the ÖVP has shown how quickly it is willing to undermine people’s basic rights!”
The “outrageous dismissal of this scandal that can only be traced back to them” by the ÖVP only shows the panic that prevails in the “still chancellor party”: “I therefore also appeal to the media, as the self-proclaimed ‘fourth estate in the state’, to assume their responsibility to do justice and not to unthinkingly accept the ‘robber stories’ that are served up to them by the Karners, Stockers, Hangers and Co. Anyone who, like the ÖVP, shouts ‘The thief shouts: Stop the thief!’ acts, is not a reputable source and only wants to distract from himself and cover up – and anyone who simply takes over this is morally complicit in this manipulative approach!
