The Constitutional Court will decide on the legal conformity of the U-Committee, despite cold-blooded methods the ÖVP has failed
Vienna (OTS) – “The last day of this investigative committee is the same as it was on the first day: a documentation of how the ÖVP is abusing the most important parliamentary educational body as a ramp for its election campaign smear campaigns against the FPÖ. Behind this is the sheer panic of the ÖVP about the crushing electoral defeats that they are facing in the EU elections and the National Council elections,” said the liberal parliamentary group leader and FPÖ General Secretary NAbg today. From the outset, the FPÖ was of the opinion that this investigative committee initiated by the ÖVP as a “diversionary tactic from its scandals” was unconstitutional and this is exactly where we are now facing a possible change. “As is well known, the former Secretary General in the Interior Ministry, Goldgruber, lodged complaints about the Federal Administrative Court’s punitive penalties after his questioning because he also considers the subject of the investigation to be unconstitutional, and the Constitutional Court is now dealing with this. This means that the Constitutional Court could subsequently declare the investigative committee unlawful, which would also render all legal consequences, such as compulsory penalties, obsolete,” said Hafenecker.
What dirty methods the ÖVP was prepared to use in its panic was also shown by “falsifying evidence” during the questioning of FPÖ federal party chairman Herbert Kickl, where an ÖVP MP presented a manipulated newspaper article in order to insinuate that it as Minister of the Interior had something to do with placing advertisements on websites with child pornography content. “But all of this was of no use to the ÖVP, on the contrary, their ‘robber stories’ hit them like a boomerang in the head – for example the alleged espionage scandal surrounding Mr. Ott, who was sent up the career ladder under ÖVP interior ministers in the BVT and “The climax of his alleged espionage activity also developed under ÖVP department leadership,” explained the FPÖ parliamentary group leader.
The case surrounding a Carinthian advertising agency is also an “ÖVP soap bubble that has long since burst”: “Herbert Kickl not only clearly stated during his questioning in the investigative committee that he had not received any payments, rental income or anything else from this advertising agency. In addition, the judiciary examined everything in a lengthy procedure in which Kickl was not listed as a defendant and found nothing. Even Falter editor-in-chief Klenk, who has doggedly researched this for around ten years, had to admit a few weeks ago that there was nothing to it. Only Hanger and Co. don’t want or can’t see that and are clinging to this last straw that has long since crumbled into dust!
Hafenecker summarized that this investigative committee had therefore shown the “open abuse of power by the ÖVP, which, driven by its panic, also displayed the highest degree of cold-bloodedness”. “The ÖVP, with the help of the SPÖ and NEOS, wanted to have the managing director of the Carinthian advertising agency, who is confirmed to be ill, brought to parliament by the police today. Even the procedural judge stated in a letter that she would refrain from doing this in this form in a court case in view of the person’s state of health.
