As several media outlets unanimously report, the black-green coalition has agreed on the security strategy and plans to make it official by circular resolution in the Council of Ministers. For NAbg. According to Susanne Fürst, FPÖ spokeswoman for foreign policy, constitution and neutrality, this strategy is a further step towards NATO and a further dismantling of the perpetual neutrality to which Austria once committed itself: “The 57-page plan endangers the security of our country , because we are damaging our neutrality and are no longer perceived as independent by warring parties. “Unfortunately, the governing parties ÖVP and the Greens are continuing their security policy ghost ride.”
The security strategy apparently also includes a further rapprochement with NATO. In this way, the “opportunities for cooperation with NATO in the areas of conflict prevention, crisis management and cooperative security as well as in the interest of strengthening the interoperability of our military capacities” should be exploited. Susanne Fürst: “With the scandalous entry into the ‘Sky Shield’ project, which was invented and promoted by NATO, Austria has taken the first step towards the military alliance controlled by the USA. The security strategy, which has now apparently been negotiated, is the next step towards membership. All of this is in stark contrast to our neutrality. The ÖVP and the Greens should finally admit that they want to bury our country’s neutrality and let the people vote on it. But they are apparently too cowardly for that.”
Austria’s neutrality must be defended by all means possible. “Only this enables Austria to act as a neutral mediator in wars and conflicts and thus bring about peace while others fuel the war. But it also protects our homeland from being drawn into foreign wars, which would be possible at any time, for example, in the event of NATO membership. Especially in view of a war that is taking place just a few hundred kilometers from our border, we must be aware that Austria’s neutrality must not be reduced to its military core. Its political component, to which Austria committed itself in 1955, is particularly valuable: Our commitment to perpetual neutrality is a commitment to diplomacy and dialogue,” said FPÖ foreign policy, constitutional and neutrality spokeswoman NAbg. Susanne Fürst.
