All parties agree – except the Greens
Vienna (OTS) – “A recently reported case of abuse of minors in the cultural sector proves once again that children and young people in this area have recently been increasingly exposed to danger,” says the cultural spokesman for the FPÖ Vienna LAbg. Stefan Berger, summing up the need for the application. “It cannot be the case that parents feel uneasy about giving their children to cultural institutions because they fear sexual assault. This must be countered decisively,” Berger continued.
The City of Vienna must therefore take all possible measures to prevent sexual abuse and to raise awareness among those involved in the cultural sector in order to best guarantee the protection of minors. In view of the increasing number of pedophile crimes, it is essential to adapt all funding guidelines in the area of the Culture and Science Business Group so that funding recipients of the City of Vienna who intend to work with minors must present a modern child protection concept.
“The fact that the motion was approved with a large majority of votes shows the importance of the issue. “It is significant, however, that the Greens are the only faction against child protection in the cultural sector,” Berger sharply criticizes the behavior of the Greens in the local council and literally describes this as a “disgrace” and “irresponsible.”
“We libertarians demand that compliance with the requirements be monitored and that unannounced inspections by the MA 11 (Youth Welfare Office) be made possible,” concluded Berger.
