FPÖ security spokesman NAbg today described it as an “embarrassing falsification of history” and “a transparent diversionary tactic from the failure of the ÖVP Interior Minister”. Hannes Amesbauer describes the desperate attempt by Stocker, Nehammer, Karner and Co. to adorn the facts with “foreign feathers”: “The reform of the BVT was initiated under Herbert Kickl as Interior Minister, he gave the starting signal and pushed the project forward in a short time. All of his successors built on his reform plans. There is no questioning that. Without Herbert Kickl’s initiative, the state security service would still be in an absolutely disastrous state today, an absolute laughing stock internationally and a ‘final repository for political care cases’, which the ÖVP interior ministers have abused it as for decades!

In connection with the Islamist plans to attack the Taylor Swift concerts, there is still a lot of need for explanation and clarification that neither Nehammer nor Karner can avoid. “The well-known Stocker smoke grenades in an endless loop don’t help either. We won’t let the ÖVP get away with it so easily; there will have to be a proper investigation and clarification. There are still numerous questions unanswered that the population has a right to answer – keywords: information chain, oath of loyalty, timing, search for potential accomplices or accomplices, etc. The various appearances by Nehammer, Karner and Co do not provide real and honest clarification cared for, quite the opposite. The suspicion is that it’s all about camouflage, tricks and deception. The mere fact that Stocker, as chairman of the so-called ‘Secret Service Committee’, did not convene it on his own initiative, but only after the vehement request of us freedom fighters, speaks volumes,” said Amesbauer.

In this context, the liberal security spokesman also recalled the Islamist terrorist attack on November 2, 2020 in Vienna and the massive misconduct in the run-up to the attack – keyword: sloppy information about the later Islamist attacker’s purchase of ammunition: “The Interior Minister at the time was called Karl Nehammer, he had political responsibility. And then, as now, the ÖVP was exclusively concerned with shifting responsibility away from itself; I would call someone like that a fugitive from responsibility. Nehammer would have had to resign back then if he had decency and a sense of responsibility. He should please do that now – and take his ‘insecurity minister’ Karner with him,” said Amesbauer.
