The 80th edition of the European Forum Alpbach kicked off on Sunday morning with the “national reception” on the village square, complete with riflemen and a band, as part of “Tyrol Day”. The speeches revolved around the “Euregio Days” topic “Artificial Intelligence (AI)” and society in times of polarization. This year’s forum Alpbach takes place from August 17th (on that day Euregio Awards such as the Euregio Young Researcher Prize and the Euregio Innovation Prize were presented) to August 30th and is based on the focus areas of climate, economy and finance, security and democracy. More than 4,000 participants as well as numerous government members from Austria and other European countries are expected. A live video link with Pope Francis is planned to kick off the “Europe in the World Days” (August 24-27).
