New joint venture “TWOmorrow Gesundheit GmbH” operates health parks in SES shopping malls to strengthen regional health care

At the end of July, Austria’s market-leading shopping center operator SES and the Vinzenz Group Service, an expert in health parks, signed a partnership agreement to jointly develop long-term health centers at selected SES shopping locations and thus sustainably strengthen regional health care.

The Vinzenz Group Service GmbH (VG S), a company of the non-profit Sankt Vinzenz Private Foundation of the Sisters of Mercy, and SES Spar European Shopping Centers GmbH, a company of SPAR Austria with 31 shopping destinations in six European countries, are establishing the joint venture ” TWOmorrow Health GmbH”. Subject to antitrust approval, this new company will operate health parks at selected SES locations to expand regional health care. Both partners each have a 50% stake in the company.

About the Vinzenz Group Service and its health parks

Since 2015, the Vinzenz Group has been developing and operating service health parks around the hospital locations in which the Vinzenz Group is involved. These health parks are regional networks in which hospitals, practicing doctors, nursing staff, therapists, pharmacies, rehabilitation and care facilities as well as medical specialist shops provide holistic care and support to people in all questions of health and illness. The collaboration between the independent partners is ensured through cooperation agreements and a common understanding of quality and values. For each location, the partners and their collaboration are supported by local health park management. Around 350 partners in seven health parks in Upper Austria and Vienna are already working together successfully – from small time-sharing practices to large hospitals. With the founding of TWOmorrow Gesundheit GmbH, Vinzenz Gruppe Service GmbH, together with SES, is now developing health parks for the first time in federal states in which it does not operate hospitals, rehabilitation or care facilities.

About the SES Spar European Shopping Centers

SES successfully develops, builds and operates large, innovative shopping destinations of international format in six European countries. SES is the market leader in Austria and Slovenia. Its locations include 31 shopping malls, 16 of which are located throughout Austria. The SES malls are highly frequented, vibrant living spaces whose offerings often go far beyond retail. In addition to extensive catering and service offerings, the portfolio also includes kindergartens, police stations and a concert and theater stage that is programmed all year round. In addition, there have been ongoing collaborations with healthcare facilities for many years in the form of temporary exhibitions and information events. Due to their attractive meeting and living spaces as well as their particularly easy accessibility, SES locations are among the most popular meeting places in the respective regions.

Dr. Michael Heinisch, CEO of the Vinzenz Group, on the new partnership with SES:

“We have to build modern and sustainable healthcare where people spend their everyday lives. The SES shopping malls are meeting and living spaces in which we can provide the population with health and prevention offers in a simple and uncomplicated manner. “Due to the new strategic partnership between Vinzenz Group Service and SES, it is now possible for two established Austrian companies to work together to shape affordable, regional healthcare.”

Mag. Marcus Wild, SPAR board member for real estate and innovation on the new partnership with the Vinzenz Group Service:

“Health is our greatest asset, health care is one of the most burning issues in our society. As a family business, as a leading Austrian food retailer and also as the largest private employer in our country, the topic of health is of particular importance to us. With our SES’s existing expertise in the development and operation of successful shopping destinations, it makes sense for us to use their locations for strong health offerings and to set innovative accents in this direction. The Vinzenz Group is the ideal partner for this.”

Mag. Christoph Andexlinger, CEO der SES Spar European Shopping Centers GmbHabout the new partnership with the Vinzenz Group Service:

“In addition to the strong, highly professional partnerships with our shop operators, restaurateurs and service providers, the key success factors of our shopping destinations are also the optimal location, perfect accessibility by public transport and the large number of parking spaces at our locations. This makes it particularly easy for everyone who wants to use the services of the health parks in our malls in the future.”

Goals of TWOmorrow Gesundheit GmbH

By founding TWOmorrow Gesundheit GmbH, both shareholders want to pool their competencies and offer the population new opportunities in regional healthcare. Well integrated into the SES shopping malls, the health parks and their partner network will provide the population with competent and holistic care at several locations in the future. The aim is to bring a broad and coordinated range of health services to people at a low threshold. A balanced mix of elective, health insurance and private services as well as free offers such as self-help groups or funded projects will be available. The various health professions operate their practices as independent entrepreneurs, but work together in a managed network.

Benefits of the partnership for the population

Especially at a time when it is becoming increasingly difficult to ensure networked and coordinated healthcare for the population, the attractive locations of the SES malls offer many new opportunities and central contact points for both healthcare professionals and the population. In addition to medical and therapeutic offers, prevention and health education will also be the focus of the health parks. In addition, the range of services offered by the health professions in the shopping malls perfectly complements the synergistic offerings such as pharmacies, opticians, audiologists, bandagists, etc. The aim is a low-threshold, holistic care mandate, implemented in a contemporary manner and close to people.

Intensive evaluations of possible locations for health parks in SES shopping destinations are currently underway. The first implementations are targeted for 2026.
