It was 1.46 a.m. when the team bus of SG Dynamo Dresden in the night of Sunday in front of the training academy in the Ostra sports park. The headlights illuminated a black yellow wall of hundreds of fans who had been pending for hours to receive their promotion heroes. The Dynamo supporters waved to them with Bengalos in their hands. Despite a 0-1 defeat at SV Waldhof Mannheim, Dynamo Dresden is as a promoted in the 2nd Bundesliga. A day for the history books. “Never more 3rd league!” Sang player, coach and fans into the cool Dresden night air.
Dynamo is again second -class, after the fans’ self -image, the club belongs there, at least, better probably a class higher! The eight-time GDR champion still has a huge fan crowd in Central Germany and can refer to a gigantic viewer cut of 28,899 fans in the Rudolf Harbig Stadium at home in the third division. Even with dynamo away parts, the guest card quota in the 2024/25 season was always quickly out of print.
To Mannheim, a remarkable 3800 Dynamo supporters had traveled. Despite the defeat, there was no stopping at the final whistle: they stormed the lawn within seconds, a yellow-black wave of the ecstasy flooded the Carl-Benz stadium. Bengalos immersed the scenery in dense smoke, while players and fans were in their arms, surrounded by mounted police and massive staff, who tried to separate the Mannheim fans from the Dresdeners.
“We rocked it!” Dynamo’s midfielder Vinko Sapina was happy with “Magenta Sport”. The Swiss coach Thomas Stamm was also touched: “There is a lot of fun, especially when I see how many long -time employees, also players who accompany the club into tears.” With its level -headed species, the trunk has done in the first season what Dynamo had dreamed of for three years: the return to the second floor of German football. After two unsuccessful attempts, the return succeeded. For the black and yellow it is the fifth second division ascent after 2004, 2011, 2016 and 2021. On Sunday, the team celebrated thousands once again with a promotion corner on the terrace bank.

You can still dream of an ascent to the 2nd Bundesliga in Cottbus. The miraculous story of the regional league promoted, who marches through, can still become a reality thanks to the mistake of the competition: after turbulent weeks, the team of coach Claus-Dieter Wollitz has opened the goal for the relegation. With a 3-1 win with the direct competitor Hansa Rostock in front of 27,500 spectators, the Lausitzer passed third place both the Hanseatic and 1. FC Saarbrücken (2: 4 in Aachen).
Previously, the Lausitzer had scored only four points from six games, the dream of climbing seemed unreachable to many. Not so coach Wollitz: »I always said that a lot can happen in football until the end, a lot will happen. I hope that we will be convinced that we will knock everything out in front of your own audience next week. “
The last game of the season will take place on Saturday in the friendship stadium against FC Ingolstadt. Third place and the promotion games would be achieved with a home win if the 1. FC Saarbrücken with a win against Borussia Dortmund II does not catch up with two goals poorer goal difference. Saarbrücken lies in 4th place with the third -placed Cottbusers.
Despite the disappointing defeat against Cottbus, Hansa Rostock has not yet played all chances of relegation. For seven months, the second division relegated in the table of the 3rd league from 18th to fourth place. After the defeat against Cottbus, Hansa is still in 5th place, but in addition to a victory in the last game at Hannover 96 II, he would also need to protect against other teams: Rostock could only get hold of the relegation ground for simultaneous mistakes in Rostock and Saarbrücken.
“We are on the ground. This is a defeat that hurts incredibly, «said Hansa coach Daniel Brinkmann after the home debacle against Cottbus. “We will need a day or two to digest the game. But who knows us, who knows me, knows that from tomorrow you will be thinking positively, «said Brinkmann. “We still have the chances of taking a step on the last match day.”With agencies
