The army athlete Natalija Eder won Austria’s first medal at the Paralympics in Paris with bronze in the javelin throw. For the Armed Forces athlete, this is the third bronze medal at the Paralympic Games after London 2012 and Rio 2016. Eder only had to admit defeat to Zhao Yuping and Anna Kulinich-Sorokina.
Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner: “I am very pleased about this great performance by Natalija Eder. With her medal she once again demonstrated her skills and made us all proud. This medal is a well-deserved recognition for her hard training and determination.”
The Army Sports Center has been promoting Austrian competitive sports with its eleven Army competitive sports centers since 1962. Every year, up to 495 people, including 20 in sports for the disabled, are part of the army sports support program. Army sports traditionally provide numerous participants in major sporting events such as the Olympic Games, European and World Championships. The athletes of the Federal Army have already achieved numerous successes and medals for Austria in the past.
