Top value for Spain – Croatia with up to 787,000 fans; an average of 709,000 in the ORF 1 main evening
Vienna (OTS) – The first phase of EURO 2024 in Germany is over with the last group game, time for an initial, positive review:
The previous ORF reporting was followed by a total of 4.743 million viewers (widest circle of viewers), which is 63 percent of the domestic TV population aged 12 and over.
The top value of the 16 European Championship games broadcast live by ORF so far was achieved by the Spain-Croatia game on June 15th with a peak value of 787,000 with an average of 709,000 (2nd half) and a 32 percent market share (46 and 58 percent in the young ones, respectively). Target groups E-49 and E-29 years), before the encounters Slovenia – Denmark with 701,000 and Poland – Netherlands with 659,000 reach on June 16th. A total of ten games had a reach of over half a million.
Once again, the EURO is proving to be a hit with young fans: in the E-49 target group, the average market share for the live games was 32 percent, and in E-29 it was even 39 percent.
Also noteworthy: the daily reporting from the new ORF sports studio in the main evening reached an average of 311,000 viewers with a 14 percent market share. Among young fans, average market shares of 21 and 23 percent were achieved.
According to online moving image measurements (AGTT/GfK TELETEST census), the ORF streams during the EURO group phase were used intensively: In total, the live streams and videos on demand achieved 3.8 million net views (related) across Austria up to and including June 26th usage processes), 10 million gross views (video starts) and a total usage volume of 121 million minutes. The most used ORF live stream was the 2nd half of the Germany – Hungary game on June 19th with an average reach of 99,000, which is the strongest ORF live stream since the beginning of 2023.
ORF 1 continues with the EURO live on June 29th and 30th, when the first two round of 16 games Switzerland – Italy and England – Slovakia are on the program from 4.45 p.m. The first two quarter-final matches will continue on July 5th and 6th at 4:45 p.m. and 5:05 p.m. respectively.
