Jakob Seeböck, Josephine Ehlert, Gregor Seberg, Emilia Warenski, Imre Lichtenberger and Luna Mwezi in the new ORF series at 8:15 p.m

Vienna (OTS) From January 22nd, 2024, it’s time to hit the slopes on the ORF 1 series Monday at 8:15 p.m. – at least for the ten young talents who have made it into the “School of Champions”. Their dream: to emulate their predecessors at the elite ski boarding school and make it to the top. But what price are they willing to pay for it? In addition to the tough everyday school and training routine, the young top athletes in the eight-part ORF series, filmed between October 2022 and March 2023 in the Gastein Valley and Vienna, also have to deal with one or two interpersonal challenges – drama and action in front of a natural backdrop are guaranteed.

For this new TV series, produced by ORF, BR and SRF, a team of popular TV faces as well as newcomers stood in front of the camera – including Jakob Seeböck, Josephine Ehlert, Gregor Seberg, Simon Hatzl, Thomas Mraz, Ferdinand Hofer, Judith Altenberger, Sonja Romei, Ferdinand Seebacher, Emilia Warenski, Imre Lichtenberger, Luna Mwezi, Mikka Forcher, Moritz Uhl and Anna Thunhart. Anna Veith and Thomas Morgenstern make cameo appearances. Dominik Hartl and Johanna Moder directed a TV series for the first time. Samuel Schultschik was responsible for the scripts. Preparations for the next ski season are already underway: filming for the second season of “School of Champions” began at the end of November.

More about the content

Episode 1 (Monday, January 22nd, 8:15 p.m., ORF 1)

Dani (Emilia Warenski) really wants to go to the renowned Gastein Ski Academy because she is passionate about skiing and to escape a future on her parents’ farm. To do this, she even cheats her way into the place of her sister (Anna Thunhart), who is actually the better skier. The school year begins and Dani now has to prove that she is up to the sporting and mental challenges of the rigorous admissions process. Running, swimming, medical tests, and finally the final admission race. Each applicant gives everything to get one of the ten coveted places.

Episode 2 (Monday, January 22nd, 9:05 p.m., ORF 1)

The Swiss ski talent Nawal (Luna Mwezi) really wants to be at the top of the ski circuit, and not just to honor her late father. She wants to prove to her mother that skiing is more than just a hobby. In the recording race she takes full risk and leads by a large margin at the split time, but then she is too fast in a curve and falls badly. Her hopes of being accepted into the new year group are dwindling, especially since her mother, traumatized by the death of Nawal’s father, is trying by all means possible to keep her away from skiing.

“School of Champions” is a production by Superfilm in co-production with Catpics for ORF, BR and SRF, made with the support of TV Fund Austria and the State of Salzburg.
