“Fight against Islam” – TKG expects LH Mikl-Leitner to clearly distance himself and clarify the linguistic slips

The Lower Austrian governor Mikl-Leitner said on Sunday in an interview with the ORF program Lower Austria that people had no understanding of new elections and that one had to consider ““We are in an extremely challenging time in which it is important to take very concrete measures for economic recovery, but also in the fight against Islam.” The interview was also broadcast on ZIB1.

The word “Islam” in the Quran has as its root the words “selam” and “silm”, which mean “peace”, “happiness”, “welfare” and “trust”. But if a faith is abused, especially politically, and if reactionary traditions are sold as faith instead of religion, regardless of the religion, then this can lead to a catastrophe of peace, happiness and trust. Also in Austria. We are against the abuse of religion and against political belief, in this case against “politicized Islam” in all areas in Austria. No matter where.

We believe that the statement “Fight against Islam” by LH Mikl Leitner was “wrongly expressed” in the heat of battle and the sad situations since 2011 with increasing trends in the Middle East and their negative effects as the first democratic republic of the EU, namely Austria. or was a slip of the tongue. We no longer know such statements from the ÖVP NÖ. Quite the opposite.

Therefore, the Turkish Cultural Community in Austria (TKG), in all friendship, expects more information from LH Mikl-Leitner and a clear distancing in which the wheat is clearly separated from the chaff. Islam is a recognized religion and the equal treatment laws apply, which are under control and final authority in the Constitution of the Republic of Austria.

Otherwise these statements will forever be misused and used against the Republic of Austria due to the weight of the LH from Lower Austria in the ÖVP or in the next governments. We want to prevent that. The interests of the free, democratic, diverse Republic of Austria are higher than any person, politician, company or party.
