The Network of the Kufstein and Surrounding Regions (KUUSK) was awarded the new MINT Region quality label for the first time.
Kufstein (OTS) – In a festive setting in mid-December 2023, the network of the regions of Kufstein and the surrounding area, Untere Schranne and Kaiserwinkl (KUUSK) received the new quality label for the first time in the Haus der Industrie MINT-Region awarded. The FH Kufstein Tirol made a decisive contribution to this with its offerings for children. A total of 14 MINT regions in Austria received the award, which represents an excellent range of services in the areas of mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology (MINT). The honor was awarded and presented by the cooperation partners Austria Wirtschaftsservice (aws), the Industrial Association, the MINTality Foundation and Austria’s education agency OeAD. The proud winners from Tyrol include the MINT region KUUSK, MINT Oberland and MINT Osttirol.
The MINT network
The MINT network of the KUUSK region currently includes educational institutions from compulsory schools to universities, social partners, communities, local marketing organizations, local companies as well as various project sponsors and supporters. In addition to some schools, the network partners of the KUUSK MINT regions include the KUUSK regional management, the Kufstein Tirol University of Applied Sciences, the TFBS Kufstein, the Kufstein Chamber of Commerce, the Kufstein municipal utilities, the kufgem, the apprentice academy, the Kufstein savings bank, the Innovation space Kufstein eGen, 2flow as well as STIHL, 3CON and Sandoz.

.” Tanja Rehberger, project manager for the KUUSK regional management, emphasized the goal of creating a comprehensive and gender-neutral MINT offering that covers all types of schools.
Specific offers from the region
Numerous exemplary offerings enrich the KUUSK MINT region. These include the Acker Racker in Langkampfen and Kufstein, FH4schools and the Kostbares KUUSK project.
FH4schools
As part of the fh4schools program, the FH Kufstein Tirol offers various activities for lower school students (six to 14 year olds) to take part in. These include the Long Night of Research, offers from the Kufstein Library for Science and Leisure (kubi) and the Kufstein Holiday Express. During the Long Night of Research, the campus of the Kufstein University of Applied Sciences is transformed every two years into a showcase for the latest technologies and research areas from Kufstein and the surrounding area. Many stands offer a special program for children and young people. In addition to regular readings on various topics, kubi also offers age-appropriate introductory courses on search engines and databases, as well as workshops for literature research. As part of the city of Kufstein’s Holiday Express offer, the FH Kufstein Tirol organizes exciting and educational workshops to give children a practical introduction to science and research topics during the holiday season.
