With a successful kick-off event, FFOQSI (spoken “Foxi”) celebrates the start of his new research period. In 2024, the expert jury of the Austrian Research Promotion Society (FFG) approved a total volume of ꞓ 19.4 million for a four-year research program in the field of feed and food. Ꞓ 10.2 of them are public funding that the federal government (via the FFG) and the federal states of Lower Austria, Upper Austria and Vienna.
FFOQSI stands for excellent research and development for future food systems. For this purpose, the expertise of renowned Austrian research institutions and international experts is combined with the know-how of technology-oriented companies from home and abroad.
Through self-development or the common use of the latest technologies, innovative approaches to cope with the pressing challenges in the area of feed and food production are developed. “The adaptation pressure of our food system is high. We are working on innovative technologies to prevent crops and spoilage in useful plant production, but also to improve livestock health. Dr. Martin Wagner, scientific director of FFOQSI.

At today’s kick-off celebration, FFOQSI partners met for the new period. The Mayor of Tullner, Mag. Peter Eisenschenk, said on this occasion in his opening words: “The fact that the founding of the Technopark has succeeded in establishing a lively research community in Tulln from which not only companies and universities, but also consumers benefit.

The Comet-K1 Competence Center FFOQSI is in the context of COMET–Competence Centers for Excellent Technologies promoted by the Austrian federal ministries BMK, BMDW and the federal states of Lower Austria, Upper Austria and Vienna.

The strategic objectives of COMET are the establishment of new skills through the initiation and support of a long -term research cooperation between science and business at the highest level as well as the establishment and securing of the technology leadership of companies.
