Festival of joy
On May 8, 1945, the German Wehrmacht surrendered and the Second World War ended in Europe. To commemorate the victims and the joy of exemption from the National Socialist terrorist rule, the Mauthausen Committee Austria (MKÖ) is organizing the feast of joy on May 8, 2025. The highlight of the event is the speech of contemporary witness Paul Lendvai. Musically, the Viennese symphonists set a sign of “never again” with the premiere of Michael Nigsch “Beyond” and the Austrian premiere of Sven Helbig’s “Requiem A”. In 2025, the festival of joy is devoted to the day of the liberation also the focus of the content “together for a never again”. The festival of joy is again transferred to ORF III live and streamed on the channels of the Mauthausen committee.

Liberation celebration concentration camp Mauthausen-May 11, 2025
On Sunday, May 11th, 2025, the liberation of the Mauthausen concentration camp is already in the 80th time. On the occasion of the liberation of the Mauthausen concentration camp, the international commemoration and liberation celebration in the Mauthausen concentration camp memorial, under the focus “Together for a never again!” Instead – in the form of a memorial. The international liberation celebration is the largest commemorative and liberation celebration across Europe. In order to make the liberation celebration accessible to a broad audience, the commemoration of ORF is transferred and streamed live on the online channels of the Mauthausen Committee Austria.
