Under the motto “Your vote, your ÖH” will be elected by May 13th to 15thÖH election) 2025. Science Minister Eva-Maria Holzleitner supports this call in a joint press conference with the ÖH Chair team in a canteen at the Vienna University of Technology: “It is very important to me that all students in Austria use their voice and choose their statutory interest representation. For me, a strong ÖH is essential, because I would not only like to discuss and achieve a noticeable improvements together with the students.”
Thanks to the successful cooperation between the ÖH and the federal government, such improvements have always existed in the past. The Federal Minister leads the Corona hardship fund for students in social emergencies, comprehensive advisory services and to the cafeteria as an event location, the doubling of the ÖH Mensabonus to 2 euros per meal. As the latest measure, Holzleitner emphasizes the current “Students at Risk” funding program, the guidelines of which are being worked out together with ÖH and OEAD. The aim is to enable students who are at risk due to democratic political incisions and cannot continue their studies at the foreign college to study at an Austrian university until a degree in a safe environment.
Another goal of the ÖH and Federal Government is to improve the social situation of the students. The government program includes a number of measures to improve in this area, such as the reintroduction of the student home support or a better reconciliation between job and study. “Studying should be possible for everyone. In order for our measures to be really effective, we need a good data basis. Therefore, I am not only calling for the ÖH choice, but also to participate in online survey to collect the social situation,” said Holzleitner.
It is entitled to vote who studies in Austria and paid the ÖH contribution in good time
