Federal Guild Master Bräuer: “Electrician training from 2024 using the latest technology!”

New collective agreement also creates additional financial incentives

Vienna (OTS) With the regulation of the apprenticeship package and the corresponding announcement, some changes will come into force from January 1, 2024. “With the focus and renaming of central tasks in modern electrical engineering, the enormous importance of the industry is also becoming visible,” explains Federal Guild Master Christian Bräuer.

The focus is on new names and content priorities for the special modules building technology, smart home, renewable energies and electromobility as well as network technology. “Without our work, the world stands still. This applies more than ever today in times of digitalization, mobility and climate change – electrical engineering is the decisive lever for all of these global challenges, as its role continues to increase in importance in more and more areas of life, whether private or in business,” emphasizes Brewer. The restructuring of training is now responding to these major changes. “Young people who choose electrical engineering training can make a significant contribution to the further development of automation, combating climate change, efficient energy consumption and the expansion of e-mobility. This means that electrical engineers can now become real game changers – not just here, but all over the world,” says Bräuer.

Electrical engineering training is already enjoying great and ever-increasing popularity. “The number of beginners is currently growing by around 20 percent per year. “The further attractiveness and modernization of training will certainly help ensure that our companies will continue to have sufficient trained staff in the future to be able to carry out the extensive and increasingly diverse tasks professionally and with quality,” says Bräuer.

The teaching was made even more attractive by the conclusion of the collective agreement negotiations. “The increase of 16.5 percent to 932 euros in the first year of training as well as the free climate ticket for young people during the first three years of training are further strong signals and incentives,” said Bräuer.
