After the introduction of the disposable deposit system in January of this year, Metro Austria can draw a first, positive balance: the fast return system with high-speed machines at all 16 locations is very well received by customers. The balance sheet after half a year is therefore over 1 million return-in-drink packaging (plastic bottles and metal cans), as well as over 600 sealed sacks with a disposal gown, which Metro took from its delivery customers as a service. The number of returns overall increases massively from month to month.
“Expiracy, practicality and solutions that make everyday work easier, among other things, that our professional customers expect from us. We also meet these requirements when you take back disposable pfandlergut,” Metro Austria is satisfied with. “We made comprehensive investments in the previous year and can ensure that Tomra R1 or Tomra R2 High-Speed Automats are used at all of our 16 locations.”
In both models, up to 100 plastic bottles and metal cans can be thrown into a large opening at the same time. A conveyor belt transports the deposit objects inside, where they are automatically scanned, sorted and counted. The machine recognizes various bottles and doses based on the shape, material and barcode and separates them accordingly. At the end of the process, a deposit bon with the total amount is automatically created. This automation and the fast sorting system happens five times faster than with conventional deposit machines.
An additional service is offered to all restaurateurs who are metro: the withdrawal and thus the removal of sealed sacks with a disposal gown.
