OchoReSotto: Light and art in Advent
The Millstätter Lichtweg leads around 2.4 kilometers through the idyllic Barbara Egger Park, further into the town center and ends at the lakeshore. Artful lighting interventions brighten the long nights. The renowned artist collective OchoReSotto from Graz uses light projections to impressively stage the outer facade of the monastery and the tower in Barbara Egger Park as well as the interior of the collegiate church. The well-known light and film artists are also responsible for the light staging of St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna. The installations “Compositions of Lines” were created specifically for Millstatt. We meet each other, our life lines cross, paths diverge – and at some point we may meet again. This is how the lifelines of OchoReSotto run through the path of light in Advent.
Off to the talking fairy tree
A Christmas surprise awaits the little guests in the monastery courtyard: the talking fairy tree, created by graphic artist Thomas Schüssler-Kalt. When “Lindaris” – a 750-year-old linden tree – wakes up and tells his fantastic story of fairies, goblins and gnomes, everyone listens spellbound. “Lindaris” will open eyes daily from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. starting December 1st.
