The team of the European Newsrooms (ENR) in Brussels is growing by two experienced managers. On February 1, Christian Röwekamp will take over the management of the joint project of 23 European news agencies in the newly created position of the Editorial Director. Ivonne Marschall has already started as an editorial team leader. Both come from the dpa news agency.

Christian Röwekamp (54) brings a wide range of experiences in the dpa group into his new role. This includes two editorial management within the DPA-Infocom: From 2016 to 2022, he conducted the DPA topic service specializing in consumer topics, then the news curatation by 2023. Röwekamp had previously headed the DPA Group’s corporate communication from 2011 to 2016, and he had worked as a project manager since 2023. His tasks in Brussels will also include deepening the cooperation between the news agencies involved in the ENR.
Ivonne Marschall (47) can also fall back on numerous experiences that she gained at the dpa in different leadership roles, including as head of the foreign language tendency in the dpa newsroom (2017 to 2018) and editor-in-chief of the English service (2018 to 2021). Since 2021 she has been active as a project manager and production manager for orders from international and institutional customers in the DPA-Custom Content editorial team. The ENR project is organized there. As an editorial team leader, Marschall coordinates the operative work of the ENR team on site in Brussels.
The aim of the European Newsrooms launched in 2022 is to strengthen the exchange and close cooperation between agency journalists at European level and to enliven and enliven reporting on EU issues. For the member agencies, the ENR organizes interviews in Brussels and the accompaniment of EU top politicians on foreign trips, produces high-quality video contributions, multimedia social media content and a regular newsletter. The participating agencies spread ENR content in 22 languages about their own services to the media of their respective countries. The extensive ENR event and training program is dedicated to topics such as artificial intelligence, mobile reporting or fight against Deep Fakes.
