Completion planned for September
St. Pölten (OTS) – After the state road L 7185 north of Amstall in the municipality of Mühldorf no longer meets today’s traffic requirements over a length of around 700 meters due to the poor condition of the road as well as the partially unfavorable conditions and the narrow road width, the Lower Austrian road service and the market town of Mühldorf have decided to to expand the state road L 7185 between kilometers 4,620 and 5,320 from the town of Amstall towards the north and to redesign it within the town.
To expand the L 7185, some of the slope-side embankment must be removed, secured in areas with quarry stone grading, so that the existing roadway can be widened to at least 5.0 meters in accordance with local conditions. The expansion is carried out on the existing building using the so-called mixed construction process, in which the existing asphalt layer is milled through with the frost protection material and reused as a substructure. In the widening area, it is also necessary to install a 40 centimeter thick frost protection layer.
Furthermore, the drainage will be partially renewed or renovated before the roadway is subsequently restored with the application of a bituminous-bound, 8 centimeter thick base layer. After the street drainage has been relocated, it is planned to redesign all ancillary areas in the northern area of Amstall in order to create the required parking areas. As part of the widening, the existing passage must also be widened and adapted. Finally, guardrails will be moved in some areas and the shoulders will be rebuilt.
The work will be carried out by the Spitz road maintenance department in collaboration with construction and delivery companies from the region until September 2024 under a total closure, for which the Lower Austrian road service asks road users and all residents for their understanding; A diversion route is available for local traffic. The total construction costs amount to around 398,000 euros, of which around 365,000 euros are borne by the state of Lower Austria and around 33,000 euros by the municipality of Mühldorf.
