Exhibition “Chiaroscuro” – selected works by Friedrich Eigner in the SCHÜTZ Art Museum

From May 29th, the SCHÜTZ Art Museum will be showing a major retrospective on the occasion of the artist’s 75th birthday

Engelhartszell (OTS) “With Friedrich Eigner, we are pleased to be able to present a representative of the here and now who clearly represents the point of view, after studying philosophy and painting, to use what he has learned to further develop what he has experienced out of an inner urge, and that To transport the past into the present.” Josef Schütz (museum owner)

“An essay about the dichotomy of light and shadow, of what is consciously hidden and what is to be discovered, of sinister secrets and quiet confidence, is the presentation of representative works by Friedrich Eigner in the Schütz Art Museum.” Essay by Gregor Auenhammer (from the catalog).

Chiaroscuro, this word, made up of the Italian words ‘chiaro = light’ and ‘oscuro = dark’, means something like “chiaroscuro”. Light and shadow in one. This phenomenon, called “chiaroscuro” by da Vinci, can also be found in Friedrich Eigner’s paintings. Light, shadow, diffuse, dubious, sublime, delicately reflecting, play the main role in his landscapes and still lifes.
