Vienna (OTS) – The time has come in six days – on Sunday, April 28th, 2024, Kaleen will fly with the Austrian delegation to Malmö, where she will sing in the second semifinal on May 9th for a place in the final of the largest TV entertainment event in the world. Yesterday, April 22nd, the official farewell event took place at the design hotel Le Méridien in Vienna. ORF entertainment director Martin Gastinger, ORF ESC delegation leader Stefan Zechner, ESC scout Eberhard Forcher, friends, family and numerous press representatives and fans came to wish Austria’s song contest artist all the best for Malmö. Kaleen performed her ESC song “We Will Rave” as well as an acoustic version of it. The evening was hosted by ORF TikToker Idan Hanin and Deban Aderemi from Wiwibloggs, the largest international ESC fan medium. From “Mamma Mia!” to “ABBA Forever”: feature films and documentaries about the song contest event
With “Mamma Mia!” and “Mamma Mia!” Here We Go Again” ORF 1 starts the song contest week on Monday, May 6th at 8:15 p.m. and 10:05 p.m. with the two successful big screen adaptations about Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan. At 12:05 a.m., “ABBA Forever” documents the careers of Agnetha, Björn, Benny and Anni-Frid, who wrote music history after their Eurovision Song Contest victory in Brighton in 1974.
On Tuesday, May 7th at 11:30 p.m. on ORF 1 everything revolves around Austria’s ESC winner from 2014: The documentary “Conchita – On the Wings of the Phoenix” looks back on the victory from back then – including backstage insights and emotional moments.
“Mercie Chérie – Austria and the Song Contest” will also look back on Thursday, May 9th at 4:15 p.m. – to March 5th, 1966, when Udo Jürgens won and his international career began. Afterwards, at 5 p.m., the documentary “Twelve points for a hit – The Eurovision Song Contest” will examine the question of what makes the ESC so fascinating, where people from different backgrounds and languages are on stage. At 6:00 p.m. and 6:55 p.m., shortly before the second semifinal with Austrian participant Kaleen, there will be the opportunity to get in the mood for the decisive ESC evening with Dacapos from “ABBA Forever” and “Conchita – On the Wings of the Phoenix”.

The 68th “Eurovision Song Contest” from Malmö – under the existing motto “United By Music” – is already traditionally broadcast on ORF without barriers for audiences with hearing or visual impairments.
