Europe’s most prestigious golf tournament will come to Kitzbühel in 2026

After the successful start of 2025 in Altentann with 18,000 visitors and worldwide live TV broadcast, the Austrian Alpine Open 2026 will be held at Kitzbühel-Schwarzsee-Reith golf course-a milestone for Tyrolean summer tourism.

Kitzbühel is one of the leading golf destinations in the Alpine region with four places in the city and another twelve nearby. With targeted investments in space, driving range and infrastructure, the region is preparing for an extra class event.

Tourism meets top sport

The DP World Tour – formerly European Tour – is back in Austria in 2025. As one of the most important professionalolf series worldwide, it comprises 42 tournaments in over 26 countries and is considered a springboard for the PGA Tour.

From 2025 to 2028, the new Austrian Alpine Open will alternately be held in Gut Altentann and Kitzbühel-Schwarzsee-Reith. After the successful start, Kitzbühel Tourism is happy to be hosting the second edition in 2026.

Golf is often considered a niche – but added value and reach speak for themselves. In total, the European golf market comprises around 16 million players, and in the tournament week alone, around 36,000 overnight stays in the Kitzbühel region are expected. The Tourtroß is also remarkable-16 trucks are delivered solely for the live broadcasts, which report in over 160 countries from the Gamsstadt every day and thus reach an audience of millions.

The tour itself will stop in Kitzbühel for a whole week: with rehearsals from Monday, the Pro-AM tournament on Wednesday and the tournament rounds from Thursday to Saturday and the final on Sunday.

After the successful premiere of Austrian Alpine Open in Salzburg with around 18,000 fans on site, we want to reach the next level in Tyrol in 2026. The Setup in the GC Gut Altenann was perfect for the Salzburg Golf Festival, in Kitzbühel we want to push the Austrian Alpine Open for the Hahnenkamm Week of the Summer and look forward to a top-class international top event together with the tourism managers“, Says Golf Enterprises GmbH Managing Director Ali Al-Khaffaf.

Kitzbühel Tourism Managing Director Dr. Viktoria Veider-Walser is happy about the chance, is also aware of the challenges of an event of this dimension: “We are very grateful that the golf course Kitzbühel-Schwarzsee-Reith will be the location of the next Austrian Alpine Open and thus part of the DP World Tour. With four golf courses on site, Kitzbühel is one of the leading golf regions in the Alpine region. Golf is a strategic strength of our summer positioning and I am particularly pleased that the entire Kitzbüheler Arge and our colleagues are behind this project in Tyrolean golf. We also understand this series of events as a strong shoulder between Tyrol and Salzburg.

In addition to the PGA Tour, the DP World Tour is the world’s largest tournament series in professional golf sports. We are all the more pleased that the Austrian Alpine Open 2026 has a tour stop in Tyrol. With Kitzbühel we have an experienced partner with an excellent golf offer at our side to hold this event. This event will prominently put our alpine landscape into the picture for many hours. In addition, with the event date in early summer we strengthen the tourist ride time and consistently continue towards all -year tourism,“According to Karin Seiler, Managing Director of Tyrol Advertising.

Golf the Streif 2025

Golfing on the legendary streak? Sounds special, it is too. Only once a year it is possible to conquer the world’s most legendary departure route with the golf club. The unique tournament format is a mandatory date for connoisseurs of the format and golf enthusiasts, in which the adrenaline mixes the strip with the precision of golf.

As part of this year’s Golf Festival Kitzbühel, the starting house at the Hahnenkamm mutated into the Mecca of golf. In a four-day flight, there are 12 holes along the departure racing route. The best -placed ball serves as a reference for the next blow. A short stop on the Seidlalm ensures a breather before going to the finish line via the demanding traverse. The winner is the team with very few blows.

As a traditional start of the event format, the Kitzbüheler Ski Club, together with Mr. Peter Kofler, BTV manager for private customers, presented the poster for the 86th Hahnenkamm races from January 19 to 25, 2026. Of 264 artists, 137 works were submitted in the popular competition. The German artist from Mainz, Jennifer Kiktenko, designed a striking typography for the current poster. The heading is organically integrated into the silhouette of the tap.

As every year, prominent ski and golf professionals and passionate golfers met for the annual tournament of a special kind. The Kitzbüheler Ski Club around President Dr. Michael Huber opened Golf the Streif as 1st flight.
