With a top -class opening, the „Europe in the World Days“ And with it the second week of European Forum Alpbach 2025. Under the annual topic „Recharge Europe“ The focus is on how Europe designs its future in a world that is determined by geopolitical conflicts, ecological crises and global competition for innovation.
“Alpbach has been a place of dialogue for 80 years. In 2025 it should be more than ever a place of solutions. Europe is taken seriously when it takes itself seriously: If we speak with one voice, implement joint decisions and honestly show our citizens what it takes. In Alpbach we want to raise the courage to ask these difficult questions and develop together.” Othmar Karas carries out the objective of his first forum as president.

The highlights on August 24 include the two Hikes “Mainstreaming of extremism: Where is the red line for democracy?”in which the constant penetration is the focus of extremist ideas in democratic societies or “Listen now: The next generation of economic metrics”in which the consequences of excess consuming are discussed. The end of the Europe in the World Days Forms the closing with Nobel laureate on August 26th Joseph E. Stiglitz to geo -economic upheavals, trade wars and changing alliances.
