Vienna (OTS) After the last polling stations in the European Union have closed, the provisional results of the 2024 European elections will be published on election day, which will already include the portion of postal votes that have been evaluated directly by the local electoral authorities. This is as follows:

The number of eligible voters was 6,372,204.

3,448,520 votes were cast.

Of which were

58,528 invalid,

3,389,992 valid.

The valid votes were allocated to the individual campaigning parties as follows (the abbreviations are in square brackets):

“Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP)” 838,373, that is 24.7%,

“Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ)” 787,407, that is 23.2%,

The voting cards that were used to cast votes by postal vote and were not already evaluated by the local election authorities on Sunday will be evaluated by the district election authorities tomorrow, Monday, from 9 a.m. It can be assumed that there are still around 109,000 voting cards.

Unless these electoral maps result in any further changes, Austria’s 20 seats in the European Parliament would be distributed as follows:

FPÖ 6 mandates,

ÖVP 5 mandates,

SPÖ 5 mandates,

GREENS 2 mandates,

NEOS 2 Mandate.

The federal electoral authority will determine the final result of the 2024 European elections in Austria on June 26, 2024 and announce it on the BMI’s official noticeboard and on the Internet.

A provisional preferential vote result is expected next Wednesday.
