The EU Commission would like to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the European Union by 90 percent by 2040 compared to 1990. This is what the suggestion that EU climate commissioner WoPke Hoekstra and Commission Vice President Teresa Ribera presented in Brussels on Wednesday. From 2036, up to 3 percent of the 1990 emissions will be able to be compensated for by an international certificate trade. In addition, more flexibility was promised.
