In 2024, Erste Group Bank AG will be the company with the most media presence among Austria’s ATX companies. This is the result of a media analysis by the PR and communications service provider APA-Comm, which includes the overall reporting of relevant Austrian print media and news sites as well as the most important news programs on radio and television for a total of 20 ATX companies in the period from January 1st to November 30th, 2024 has investigated. With 4,324 contributions, Erste Group Bank AG clearly leads the ranking, followed by Österreichische Post AG with 2,647 contributions and OMV AG with 2,320 contributions.
Sport makes the difference
Erste Group AG, which already led the media presence ranking of Austrian ATX companies last year, consolidated its media leadership position in 2024 primarily through its commitment to Austrian sports sponsorship. Particularly visible are the Erste Bank Open in the Wiener Stadthalle, which are discussed in every sixth article in reporting on Erste Group.
Parcels are not only sent at Christmas
With 2,647 articles, Österreichische Post AG achieved second place in the presence ranking. Despite a slight decrease in contributions compared to the previous year (a decrease of four percent), Post AG recorded an increase in the ranking by one place and thus overtook OMV AG. With a minus of 23 percent, this recorded the largest decline in attendance within the top 3 and only just maintained its place on the podium. Voestalpine AG follows directly behind in fourth place, with only 90 contributions fewer than OMV AG in 2024. The largest decline in presence in 2024 will be recorded by Schoeller-Bleckmann Oilfield Equipment AG, which has 45 percent fewer articles in the overall reporting of Austrian ATX companies and takes last place in the ranking.
Four companies on the rise in the media
If you look at the reporting on the 20 largest listed companies in Austria as a whole, it is noticeable that this has decreased by an average of 15 percent compared to the previous year. Only four of the 20 stock corporations analyzed were able to expand their media visibility and increase their presence in 2024. The one that stands out most clearly is Immofinanz AG, which ranks 17th with an increase of 26 percent. They are followed by Lenzing AG in 12th place with an increase of 18 percent and Vienna Insurance Group AG, which reached 8th place with an increase of 17 percent. AT&S AG also recorded a slight increase in media attention, taking 10th place with an increase of 8 percent.
