With the new ‘Made-in-Europe bonus’, the smaller roof segment will also be fully used in the smaller roof segment on a new funding system with investment subsidies for European added value, ”Elisabeth Engelbrechtsmüller-Strauß refers to the connection of climate protection and domestic value creation. Plants from 100 kW from July 2025 benefit from this funding from July 2025.
“As an industry, we do not defend ourselves against a reduction in the funding volume, provided this reduction – balanced over the sectors – is necessary for budget renovation. But it is important that everyone knows what they are and can plan. We will need a lot more electricity in the future, so it makes sense to invest in photovoltaic systems. It is wrong that a more solar stream is to blame for the increased energy prices. The basis for the financial burden is largely in the high gas prices and the Merit order principle in pricing, ”clarifies the managing director of Fronius.
After the Climate and Economic Ministry has agreed on a joint draft of the “EAG Investment subsidy Ordinance in electricity”, including the “Made-in-Europe bonus” for renewables, Fronius would like to support this draft fully. “With the ‘Made-in-Europe Bonus’ for renewable energy generation plants, Austria becomes a pioneer in Europe for the coupling of climate and energy policy and industrial policy goals. The domestic value creation is strengthened and the resilience of the European energy system increases. In times of geopolitical upheavals, we have to make sure not to depend on China in the area of photovoltaics, which we can no longer reverse later, ”Engelbrechtmüller-Strauß draws attention to the strategic importance of solar power for the European Energy System.
