So now a volume of poem by Ella Carina Werner. The satirist from Hamburg has already got around beautifully: Ko-inventor of the funny literature event format Diary Slam, in which volunteers and the audience read their most embarrassing passages from their own diaries from youth. Reading stage author. Editor of the »Exot«. “Truth” author at the “taz”. Early discovery as a novelist with big publishers. Establishment as an author and a permanent member of the editor of the best German satire magazine »Titanic«. Breakthrough as a short story author at the Indieverlag Satyr. Takeover of the great “Titanic” column from the Larmoyant Heinz Strunk-as the first columnist ever. Co-editor of the celebrated feminist-humorist short text anthology “Nobody has the intention of establishing a matriarchy”. Co-editor of the »Titanic«. Continuation of success as a short story author with the band “You can’t make a career without children” at Rowohlt. The satirist has long been ripe for the Kassel literary award for grotesque humor, the Nieheimer Schuhu and what else in Germany could be given to humorous and satirical honor. And now poetry.
Anyone who thinks of a daring literary metamorphosis, a reinvention of Werner as a demanding poet, will be deceived – luckily. Her first lyrical work, the title suggests it, is not very indicted, artistically woven, interpretation of educational canon. “The rooster explains constantly, the hen how to lay eggs” – the title rhymes, is problem -oriented, straightforward, concise, fully on the twelve and very funny. And so also the Werner poems. The production of lyrical feminism verses in social media started. On Instagram, Ella Carina Werner began to post “feminist animal poems” in a reliable frequency, who soon enjoyed great popularity and smiling approval among friends of satirical overall authors. And even if Werner before, as far as known, has not poeted, her writer’s quality, near the quadrature of the circle, namely to send a very clearly social revolutionary, feminist message, does not shy back from the ability, but always somehow to pack the Ass-Kickin ‘Satireans, in this poetry, fully into the lyrics.
The first volume of poems by Ella Carina Werner is subversive to offensive sparkling cork popping to the patriarchy.
The verses are in cash for all unnecessary ornamental councils, one -bedding storytelling, mannered game with shapes, subtle subtextens. The short to very short rhyme poems describe archetypal communication or conflict situations of the sexes in which the patriarchal power gradient becomes clear. There are poems of almost all conceivable constellations or contexts in which women do not come to their rights or is prevented from realizing their claim: self-determined reproduction, the pension gap of people in care, good sex, bodyhaming, even violence in relationships, career or simply conversation.
Werner’s poems make it clear, and crystal clear that women have the same rights and needs as men, also and especially needs and like selfish and inappropriate. In styles of lyrical Womansplaining, this volume of poems, which Juliane Pieper has dipped in bright colors and refined with beautifully showy drawings of feminist animals, are presented with calendar sayings that have the stuff as almost universal codes of the anti -mackertum. With verses from this book, experiences can be conducted on the essentials, patriarchal patterns and turning around, wife, queer people and allied male feminists cite themselves knowingly when they quote Ella Carina Werner: “The fame of the moose is delighted by the moose / but she prefers to be.”
In this sense, the author’s clever epithet herself, in which she reflects that feminism is far more than the struggle for the rights of women, namely “questioning of social hierarchies and role expectations between people in general”. The first volume of poems by Ella Carina Werner is subversive to offensive sparkling corporation to the patriarchy, outrageous for the narrow -minded, empowering for the progressive and feminist fun in rhymed baggy pants. The strange poetry in Germany finally has a female voice – one that does not whisper, but does it out, which is what is: “Unfortunately, Ms. Hermelin thinks of him / but feverishly with the sexual act.”
In this sense, friend of humor and good cause: give yourself this book and be at pure with you: “The owl loves how it is / anarcho-punk and Antichrist”.
