Elected the other way round within the Green Party
Vienna (OTS) –

“It is a great honor for me to receive the trust of the Greens Andersrum Austria. At a time when the rights of LGBTIQ+ people are constantly being attacked, it is more important than ever to stand up for equality, respect and acceptance,” says David Stögmüller, new federal spokesman for the Green Party. “My main goal as the new federal spokesman is to strengthen the political presence of the Andersrum Austria Greens and to protect the rights of queer people,” emphasizes Stögmüller. “We recognize our new role as an opposition party in Parliament and it is now crucial to set a new course – professionally, decisively and powerfully. Because the challenges for queer people in Austria are not getting any less,” says Stögmüller, who is also the Green Party’s spokesman for LGBTIQ+ agendas in the National Council.

One of his most important tasks is continuous education and engagement in society to prevent discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. “We will continue to campaign for legal equality and against social pressure from right-wing extremist groups on LGBTIQ+ people. Because LGBTIQ+ rights are not special rights, but fundamental human rights,” says Stögmüller.

Katharina Schöll, regional spokesperson for the Greens Andersrum Vienna, is pleased about her new role as federal spokesperson for the Greens Andersrum Austria. “In these turbulent times, characterized by regression and a global shift to the right, it is important to defend rights that have already been won, to continue to secure them and to ensure that human rights are respected,” says Schöll. “Interpersonal cohesion in the queer community is becoming increasingly important. Personally, it is important to me to strengthen diversity, both in the big city and in the country,” emphasizes Schöll and continues: “Diversity enriches our society; every person should be able to live freely, regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity. Queer rights are human rights that apply to everyone, everywhere.” In addition to the newly elected speakers, Styrian Gerhild Genzecker was also elected as finance officer.

Finally, the two speakers from the Andersrum Greens would like to thank Ewa Ernst-Dziedzic and Klaus Horvat-Unterdorfer for their many years of commitment and their valuable work with the Andersrum Greens, as well as their tireless commitment to the queer community.
